New Camera

First of all, if you're looking for "Traveling Tuesday" please head over to my new blog - Prairie Stories. All children's book reviews will be housed there from now on. This week I'm walking about the book We're Sailing to Galapagos!

I'm currently using a little Sony digital camera (I'm sorry I don't know the specs) I believe it is 7.2 megapixals which was pretty good... 3 years ago.

I'm learning not to use the flash when I have enough natural light and I'm starting to get better photos from it. However, it doesn't "read" a lot of natural light so images are blurred if there is not enough. Of course when I use the flash I get that flat, "flash" look which nobody likes.

So, I'm in the market for a new camera. As you can tell from my post, I don't know much about cameras. I have heard that I should get something with an external flash but that's about all I know to look for.

I'm looking for recommendations! What do you use? What do you wish you could use? What would you suggest to a person like me? I'm not a professional (obviously!) but I want to take quality photos of my family. I'm a scrapbooker so quality photos are important to me! I like experimenting and doing "photo shoots" with my daughter but I also love being able to capture candid moments!

Okay... shoot! What would you buy if you were me? :)

It depends on how much you are willing to spend. If you can spend a little more I totally recommend a Canon Rebel SLR camera. My husband and I bought one about a year ago and I LOVE it. It has an auto feature so you don't have to mess with the settings and then it has lots of other settings where you can completely play around. I also just recently bought a new lense for it and it is amazing and the price was very affordable. It's much better than the stock lense it came with. If you like the look of a crisp subject with a blurry background the the prime lense 50mm f1.8 is fabulous!! I'm very much into photographer and am trying to teach myself more things. There are a ton of blogs that I follow that have great recommendations and tips and tricks.
momtog blog is great and so is The Pioneer Woman.
Hope this helps a little!!!

My friend has the rebel. And it's like Nikki says, it depends on how much you are willing to spend.

Thanks ladies! I have heard good things about everything Canon so I will definitely check out the Rebel. I'm thinking this will make a good birthday present for me :)
